Mariana Saraiva de Melo Pinheiro
Mariana has been working since 2019 in UN-Habitat's Planning, Finance, and Economy Section, where she supports the management and coordination of the Flagship Programme ‘Inclusive Communities - Thriving Cities,’ developing knowledge materials, policies, and strategic development plans for cities across Latin America and Africa. She holds degrees in Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning, with a focus on Sustainable Development and Public Policy. Before joining UN-Habitat, Mariana worked in Fortaleza’s municipal government, urban development firms, and community organizations in France and Brazil, promoting inclusive development. Her key areas of expertise include participatory processes, spatial inclusion, land regulation, slum upgrading, urban regeneration, and climate resilience.
